My mom is Acadian, so lobster was a big part of my childhood and I grew up knowing the best technique for shelling them. For proof, watch the video. 🙂

Ingredients

  • 4 lobsters ( 2 lb each)
  • Sea salt
  • Garlic butter, for serving

Steps

  1. Bring a large pot of extra salty water to a boil. It needs to taste like the sea, so we’re talking a lot of salt.
  2. Remove the elastics from the lobsters and put them headfirst and upside down into the pot.
  3. When the water starts boiling, cook them for 16 minutes per 2 pounds (or 12 minutes for the first pound + 1 minute per additional 1/4 pound).
  4. Fill a large pot with very cold, very salty water, and submerge the lobsters in it to keep them from cooking further.
  5. Watch the video to see how to shell a lobster.
