APPLE & CRANBERRY PUFF PASTRY

Ingredients
- 4 apples, peeled and cut into strips
Replacement optionsor pears or peaches
- 1 cup dried cranberries
- 1 can (10 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- Juice of 1/2 lemon
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 package (397 g) puff pastry
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 tablespoons coarse or granulated sugar
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 400˚F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
- Put the apples, cranberries, sweetened condensed milk, lemon juice, and cinnamon in a pan. Cook for 10 minutes over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Transfer into a bowl and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Shape the puff pastry into a 40 X 25 rectangle. Place on the baking sheet.
- Spread the apple and cranberry mixture on the puff pastry.
- Using a knife, cut the puff pastry into 6–wide strips until you have enough to cover the rectangle. Place the strips over the pastry, braiding them as you go.
- Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with sugar.
- Bake for 40 minutes. Serve hot or cold.
