Fish tacos with avocado mayonnaise & other toppings
These tacos are not only delicious and easy to make, but also perfect for entertaining guests. Just place the tortillas, salsa, coleslaw, and mayonnaise in the middle of the table and each guest can make their own tacos, dressing them with their favourite toppings.
This recipe is also a great way to get even the most stubborn of kids to eat fish. After all, who doesn’t love tacos?

Ingredients
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 4 cod fillets
- 1/4 cup flour, or more, as needed
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 8 soft tacos
- 1 lime, cut into quarters
- 1/2 cup store-bought or homemade salsa
For the coleslaw
- 2 cups store-bought coleslaw mix (sold in bags)
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
For the avocado mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup store-bought or homemade mayonnaise
- 1 avocado
- Juice of 1 lime
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Steps
- In a bowl, combine all the coleslaw ingredients and mix well. Adjust the seasoning and set aside.
- In a blender, combine all the avocado mayonnaise ingredients and blend until smooth. Adjust the seasoning and set aside.
- Season the fish fillets and coat lightly with flour.
- In a large pan, melt the butter and sear the fillets for 2–3 minutes on each side over medium-high heat.
- Warm the tacos and serve everything in the middle of the table with the lime and salsa.
